It’s a ratings roll for ABS-CBN in 2016 as it hits peak-to-peak ratings, anchored by two new shows: powerful action drama “Brothers” (aka ”Ang Probinsyano”) and the light romance “Be My Lady”.
“Brothers” packs a punch to the primetime slot taking no prisoners. Originally adapted from a 1997 Filipino film, the show is about a man who assumes the identity of his twin brother to thwart a crime syndicate. “Brothers” has rocked the primetime landscape via its stunning performance: a remarkable 41.6% debut and eventually shattering its own record with a whopping 46.8% and a 64% audience share. Its lead actor Coco Martin, now dubbed as the “King of Philippine Primetime”, has been lauded for his charming and sensitive portrayal of twin brothers Ador and Cardo, who will do anything for love of family and country.
“Be My Lady” meanwhile, brings together hopeless romantics everywhere, touching on the inter-racial relationship between its main characters, a conservative, true-blue Filipina played by Erich Gonzales, and a disarming Brazilian-Japanese playboy played by Daniel Matsunaga. With a national TV rating of 18.7% on its debut episode and a peak rating of 19.5% and 54% audience share so far as measured by Kantar Media, its performance is quite impressive for a prime daytime program and has effectively dwarfed competition. Off to a quick start trending in the Twitterverse, the show genuinely portrays how a new couple navigates their budding relationship and learns to cope with each other’s backgrounds.
“Brothers” and “Be My Lady” are now available for worldwide distribution via the ABS-CBN International Distribution.
