ABS-CBN unveils new Studios banner; Philippines’ programmer adds sound stages and facilities to music and talent management in upsized global strategy

Philippines’ programmer ABS-CBN unveils its new Studios’ banner in Singapore this week, building upon the global success of feature film, “Hello, Love, Again”, and ramping up international outreach for its domestic production facilities.

This is the first time the Manila-based company is opening up its sound stages to third-party producers, and echoes structures in place in other parts of the region, including Singapore’s Mediacorp Studios and Malaysia’s Astro.

ABS-CBN’s well-established music and talent management units, with stars such as Kathryn Bernardo, Arjo Atayde, and girl group BINI, also comes under the new ABS-CBN Studios’ banner.

ABS-CBN Studios is headed by ABS-CBN chairman, Mark Lopez; president and chief executive, Carlo Katigbak; and chief operating officer, Cory Vidanes; with Ruel Bayani as head of international productions.

The headline project for the new Studios’ division at ATF is supernatural horror film, “Hysteria”, written by Jaymar Santos Castro (“What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim Philippines”).

The film is about a self-righteous priest who investigates a series of demonic possessions plaguing a small town trapped in its own contradictory beliefs. As the mystery unfolds, a dark past haunts the troubled cleric, revealing an explosive secret that makes him realise he is causing this hysteria all along.
