Leveraging on its content that resonates with global audiences, ABS-CBN has signed on with Turkey content production company Limon Yapim for an adaptation of its crime suspense drama “A Mother's Guilt”.
The landmark format adaptation deal marks ABS-CBN’s entry into Turkey and is a co-production between Limon Yapim and ABS-CBN. The show will air on Turkey’s top free TV channel, FOX Turkey.
“The local adaptation of ‘A Mother's Guilt’ in Turkey is another proof that Filipino stories have a global audience because our tradition of storytelling is always anchored on the universal theme of love for family. We are excited for viewers in Turkey to see it,” Laarni Yu, ABS-CBN International Distribution EMEA sales head said.
The contract signing of ABS-CBN and Limon Yapim took place in Cannes, France during MIPTV, an international event dedicated to content and development and distribution. Limon Yapim is a reputable production company in Turkey with a roster of top-rating TV series and films.
Currently, ABS-CBN programs are present in over 50 territories all over the world, selling over 50,000 hours of content worldwide.
In March this year, Indonesian television network MNCTV began airing its own version of “It’s Showtime.” The deal is ABS-CBN’s first non-narrative format franchise buy by a foreign company and solidifies its position as a reliable content provider in the international arena.
“A Mother's Guilt”’s adaptation is the second time that a local series was remade for another national audience. The Kapamilya network's first TV series "The Promise" was localized for Cambodian viewers by the Cambodian Television Network (CTN) in 2012.
