Top rating epic drama "No Greater Love" conquers Philippine viewers, hits high TV ratings on final telecast
Philippine television rarely travels back in time to tell stories of love that happened decades back, but ABS-CBN’s “No Greater Love” (“Ikaw Lamang”) changed all that after the consistent primetime top rater ended its successful seven-month run on a high note that not only ruled the ratings game in its final telecast, but also ruled nationwide viewership for the whole month of October.
Data from Kantar Media showed that “No Greater Love” concluded with a national TV rating of 34.1%, or 21 points higher compared to its rival program “Hiram na Alaala” (13.1%). It was also the most watched program in the country in the previous month as it landed on the top spot with an average national TV rating of 29.7%.
“No Greater Love” tells the story of Samuel, a plantation worker who falls in love with Isabelle, daughter of the landed elite. Both try to defy the odds but fail to bridge their opposing worlds, forcing them to go their separate ways. Isabelle ends up marrying Franco, a son of wealthy landowners, and they have a daughter named Natalia. Meanwhile, the heartbroken Samuel’s one night stand with his loyal friend Mona results in their marriage and the birth of their son, Gabriel.
Ever since it premiered last March, “No Greater Love” was consistently among the top three most watched programs on Philippine television every weeknight and a consistent top trending topic on micro-blogging site Twitter. Even when the show flipped through the new pages of its second chapter, Filipino viewers firmly hung on to its gripping plot and closely watched how the story of Samuel and Isabelle continued and affected the lives of their children at the present time.

Topbilled by two of Philippine TV’s most promising actors, Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano, “Forevermore” instantly became the number one most-watched program in the country on its premiere telecast with a national TV rating of 27.1%, beating its rival program that only got 12.8%.
Meanwhile, the Philippine adaptation of hit Korean series “Two Wives,” which airs back-to-back with “Forevermore” on PH primetime television, is also gaining ground and continues to dominate its late primetime slot.
“Two Wives” debuted with a national TV rating of 19.8% versus its rival program (12.1%). Since then, it has continued to attract viewers with its gripping plot, memorable lines, and sexy, tension-filled scenes.
